Here is my 3 GOLDEN RULES
GOLDEN RULE #1 - Learn to Hover
Bring the power up slowing using the left stick (power stick) until the helicopter lifts off the ground. Bring the helicopter upto about 1 metre off the ground and make it hover (it should be around the 1/2 way mark)
Hover here for a few seconds and then decrease the power by just a small amount to allow the helicopter to descend to the ground.
TO THIS 10 TIMES
You are learning the hover point of the helicopter and how to land without crashing!
When you do get into trouble you will naturally go to the hover point!
GOLDEN RULE #2 - Never give it FULL POWER
These are powerful helicopters and giving it full power will make it take off like a rocket!
So DON'T - it will be near on impossible to recover if you are a newby
GOLDEN RULE #3 - Never give it NO POWER
If you are flying around and you give your helicopter no power you now have an expensive falling brick.
And it is funny how Golden Rule 3 is always broken straight after Golden Rule 2!
