An uprated camera is equipped with a 1-inch 20-megapixel sensor, capable of shooting in 4K up to 60fps and Burst Mode stills at 14 fps. The adoption of titanium alloy and magnesium alloy construction increases the rigidity of the airframe and reduces weight, making the Phantom Pro similar in weight to the Phantom 4. The Flight Autonomy system adds dual rear vision sensors and infrared sensing systems for a total of 5-direction of obstacle sensing and 4-direction of obstacle avoidance.
A mechanical shutter is used to eliminate rolling shutter distortion, which can occur when taking images of fast-moving subjects or when flying at high speeds. Excellent optical performance, sensors, and processors ensure everything is captured with high dynamic range and more image detail needed for advanced post-production.
The 1-inch 20-megapixel CMOS sensor in the Phantom 4 Pro is almost four times the size of the Phantom 4's 1/2.3in sensor. It uses larger pixels and has a maximum ISO of 12800 as well as increased contrast. It also features an aerial optimized F2.8 wide-angle lens with a 24 mm equivalent focal length. Images are consistently detailed with low distortion and dispersion, ensuring that photos and videos are sharp and vivid.
An enhanced video processing system allows video to be captured in cinema and production optimized DCI 4K/60 (4096 x 2160/60 fps) at a bitrate of 100 Mbps, enabling you to get high-resolution slow motion shots. The Phantom 4 Pro also supports the H.265 video codec (maximum resolution 4096X2160/30 fps).
The Phantom 4 Pro uses a mechanical shutter and a large-aperture prime lens. A mechanical shutter with a maximum speed of 1/2000s eliminates rolling shutter distortion which can occur when taking images of fast moving subjects, or when flying at high speeds. The electronic shutter has also been improved with a maximum shutter speed of 1/8000s. A new Burst Mode is capable of shooting 14 fps at 20-megapixels, all for catching the perfect moment.
5-Direction Obstacle Sensing
Flight Autonomy is expanded with an additional set of high-resolution stereo vision sensors placed at the rear of the craft, in addition to the pair placed at the front and infrared sensing systems placed on the sides. This network creates 5-direction of obstacle sensing as well as 4-direction of obstacle avoidance. This protects the Phantom 4 Pro from more obstacles and gives filmmakers the confidence to capture more complex images.
6-Camera Navigation System
Three sets of dual vision sensors form a 6-camera navigation system that works constantly to calculate the relative speed and distance between the aircraft and an object. Using this network of forward, rearward and downward vision sensors, the Phantom 4 Pro is able to hover precisely in places without GPS when taking off indoors, or on balconies, or even when flying through windows with minimal pilot control. In the unlikely event that front and downward sensors are unable to operate, the aircraft can still hover in place using the rear stereo vision system. The Phantom 4 Pro is also able to fly in complex environments at a flight speed of up to 31mph (50kph) while avoiding obstacles in its path. In Narrow Sensing Mode, the Phantom 4 Pro narrows its sensing scope enabling it to see in more detail and fly through small spaces.
Infrared Sensing System
The Phantom 4 Pro is the first DJI aircraft to use an infrared sensing system. Placed on the left and right sides of the aircraft, the sensors measure the distance between the aircraft and obstacles using infrared 3D scanning. When in Beginner and Tripod Mode, these sensors have a horizontal field of view of 70° and a vertical field of view of 20°, providing a wide view of the scene to the sides of the Phantom and a maximum range of 23ft (7m). Traditional ultrasonic sensors only have a detection range of 3-5m and may be confused when affected by propeller vibration. The infrared sensing system can sense larger areas and measure the distance between the aircraft, identifying the closest objects accurately while avoiding interference, providing more reliable sensing and protection.

Obstacle Sensing System
When do the infrared sensing system work during flight?
Only in Beginner mode and Tripod mode.
How do the infrared sensing system work?
Available in Beginner Mode and Tripod Mode only, the infrared sensing system has a sensing field with a 70° angle horizontally and 20° angle vertically. The radiated infrared light is reflected back by obstacles, allowing the sensors to “see” them at a distance of up to 23ft (7m) by calculating the difference in projection and reflection times and using this information to create a 3D model about the environment and obstacles in it.
Is there any difference between the front and rear obstacle sensing systems?
Are the Phantom 4 and Phantom 4 Pro/Adv remote controllers compatible with each other?
What’s new in the Phantom 4 Advance remote controller?

AR Route, TapFly Backward, TapFly Free in Tap Fly mode, Circle, Profile, and Spotlight in ActiveTrack, as well as Draw and Gesture Mode. It also supports Narrow Sensing and uses new RTH algorithms.
How is Phantom 4 Pro’s Smart Return Home improved?
The new Smart Return Home forms a map of its environment in real-time. The aircraft will choose the best flight path to return home and senses as far as 300m to avoid obstacles more effectively. If the control signal is lost, the Phantom 4 Pro will retrace its original path to regain its connection. When it reconnects, it will return to home following a straight route. If it fails to regain connection, it will also revert to straight line RTH.
How to use Narrow Sensing?
Set C1 or C2 as activation switch for Narrow Sensing. When flying in a complex environment, activate Narrow Sensing and the aircraft will adjust its sensing range and flying speed to fly through narrows gaps.
