DJI Dock 2 Drone-In-A-Box Lands in New Zealand

Developed by DJI Enterprise, the DJI Dock 2 is a groundbreaking advancement in autonomous drone operations. Designed for the Matrice 3D and 3DT series, this more compact version of the impressive DJI Dock facilitates automated and scheduled missions with remarkable efficiency. As New Zealand’s exclusive DJI Dock 2 distributor, we’re excited to bring this game-changing technology to our shores – read our blog below to learn more!

What is the DJI Dock 2?

With its compact and lightweight structure, weighing only 34 kg and being significantly smaller and lighter than its predecessor, the DJI Dock 2 ensures easy transport and quick setup. It possesses an IP55 rating, guaranteeing resilience in adverse weather conditions, and is equipped with a durable backup battery capable of 5+ hours of operation during power failures.

Operational across a wide temperature range (-25°C to 45°C), the dock supports continuous 24/7 use. Compatible with drones having up to 50 minutes of flight time and a 10 km range, the Dock 2's RTK module further enhances precision landing. This makes it an essential asset for industries like surveying, security, and inspections.

Key DJI Dock 2 features

The DJI Dock 2 was designed with the following high-level features:

  • Fully integrated system with charging station, weatherproof housing, and flight management platform;
  • Autonomous operations: drones can take off, land, and recharge without manual intervention;
  • Intelligent charging, optimising battery performance and extending flight time;
  • Water and dust proof with an IP55 rating for reliable performance in various conditions;
  • Scalable deployment with multiple docks supporting larger operations;
  • Enhanced safety features including obstacle avoidance and automated return-to-dock;
  • Seamless integration with the new DJI Matrice 3D and 3DT solutions;
  • Remote monitoring and control capabilities for centralised management;
  • Fully compatible with DJI FlightHub 2 software.

New DJI Matrice 3TD/3D Drones

The new DJI Matrice 3TD/3D drones are designed specifically for the Dock 2.

Matrice 3TD is equipped with wide-angle, telephoto and thermal cameras, making it suitable for operations such as security patrol, emergency response, and automated asset inspections.

The Matrice 3D drone is equipped with a telephoto camera and a mechanical shutter wide-angle camera, which can meet the requirements of high-precision surveying and mapping operations, such as site progress monitoring and earthwork measurements. Engineered for precision surveying, the Dock 2 is DJI's first dedicated drone in a box mapping solution.
